BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's photovoltaic (PV) sector saw rapid growth in the first half, as mirrored by key indicators, reported CCTV.com.
The country's PV power generation reached 266.3 billion kilowatt hours in the first six months, jumping 30 percent year on year.
The newly added installed capacity of PV power generation surged 154 percent year on year to 78.42 million kilowatts in the first six months, bringing the total installed capacity to about 470 million kilowatts as of the end of June.
In the first half, investment in PV power generation in China exceeded 130 billion yuan, accounting for approximately 50 percent of the total completed investment in renewable energies.
The total exports of China's PV products from January to June amounted to 28.92 billion U.S. dollars, up 11.6 percent year on year.
During the period, the output of polysilicon, silicon wafers, batteries, and components all grew more than 65 percent year on year. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
