BEIJING, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Heat-relief products made by Chinese companies have become popular in overseas markets as the Northern Hemisphere is scorched by hot summer, reported the Xinhua-run China Securities Journal.
In June, China exported 4.1 million air conditioners, jumping 13.2 percent year on year. The country's exports of air conditioners amounted to 34.17 billion yuan in the first half, up 0.4 percent year on year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
Since the beginning of this year, Chinese refrigeration equipment manufacturer MBO Group has seen its air conditioner exports surge 30 percent compared to the same period of last year. Its export volume of air conditioners hit 330,000 from January to July, said Gan Jianguo, spokesperson of the company, adding that incremental orders mainly came from Europe, Southeast Asia, and North America.
In Italy, sales of air-conditioning products doubled in the week to July 21 compared to the same week last year, and over 60 percent of the air conditioners sold were Chinese-branded, according to Italian consumer electronics retailer Unieuro, which has more than 500 shops across the country.
Overseas demands for other cooling products like electric fans and neck cooling rings have also increased.
Inquiries about electric fan export of Xiaohang electric appliance retailer in Yiwu, east China's Zhejiang Province started as early as February and ended in July. During the peak period, an average of 50 to 60 foreign merchants' inquiries were dealt with per day, said Yuan Jufang, head of the retailer.
About 80 percent of heat-relief products of Yuhu electric appliance in Yiwu were exported, mainly to South America, which is preparing for the coming summer, said Liu Pei in charge of the vendor.
