BEIJING, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Rongcheng, a county-level city in east China's Shandong Province, saw its recreational vehicle (RV) industry gain steam in fast lane of expansion.
Last year, the city churned out a total of 17,000 RVs, generating sales revenue of 1.7 billion yuan.
As China's largest production base and export base for RVs, Rongcheng produced 30 percent of all RVs in China and its RV exports accounted for about 70 percent of the country's total RV exports.
Australia and New Zealand are the main export destinations for the city's RVs. It is learned that Rongcheng's RVs account for 50 percent of Australia's RV market share.
At present, Rongcheng is home to over ten vehicle production enterprises above designated size and more than 50 accessories and parts suppliers. The city's RV producers boast about 16 innovation platforms above the municipal level, with more than 200 patents authorized.(Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
