BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- A total of 55 deals of high-tech industry projects involving a combined agreed investment of 12.6 billion yuan were signed recently in south China's Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), according to the provincial Department of Commerce.
The projects cover multiple fields including medical devices, biomedicine, food processing, environmental protection equipment, new materials, smart logistics, jewelry processing, aerospace and aviation, and digital economy.
Hainan's high-tech industry has seen rapid development in recent years. The number of high-tech enterprises in the island province increased to 1,527 in the first half of this year from 838 in 2020.
Enterprise performance has been improving. In the first six months, the added value of Hainan's high-tech manufacturers with main business revenue of 20 million yuan and above rose 15.2 percent year on year, and that of equipment makers above the designated size jumped 31.5 percent year on year.
