E China's Jiangsu sees China-Europe freight train trips up 7.8 pct in H1

Abstract : East China's Jiangsu Province saw an increase in China-Europe freight train trips in the first half of this year, according to Department of Transportation of Jiangsu Province.

BEIJING, July 19 (Xinhua) -- East China's Jiangsu Province saw an increase in China-Europe freight train trips in the first half of this year, according to Department of Transportation of Jiangsu Province.

The province operated 1,095 China-Europe freight train trips from January to June, up 7.8  percent year on year, completing 54.75 percent of the annual task target, of which the return trip increased by more than 20 percent.

The import and export goods worth 16.2 billion yuan were transported through freight train services between Jiangsu and countries along the routes of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in the first six months of this year, up 16 percent year on year, according to Nanjing Customs.

The China-Europe freight train service has become an important transport corridor for local companies to improve opening-up level and conduct foreign trade.

Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, handled 244 China-Europe freight trains in the first half of this year, up 30.9 percent year on year. The city now operates seven routes, covering 15 countries and regions in Europe, Russia, Central Asia and Southeast Asia.
