HANGZHOU, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Singapore and Shanghai, two major ports in Asia, kept their top place among 34 ports around the world in the latest comprehensive evaluation of world-class ports.
China Economic Information Service (CEIS) and China Waterborne Transport Research Institute (CWTRI) jointly released the evaluation report on July 18 at the 7th Maritime Silk Road Port International Cooperation Forum in Ningbo, a coastal city in east China’s Zhejiang Province. The report gives a comprehensive evaluation on the performance of 34 ports around the world in 2022.
According to the evaluation results, the highest score is 87.4, while the average is 65.3. Singapore and Shanghai remained as top ports in the world, while Rotterdam, Ningbo Zhoushan, Busan, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Antwerp-Bruges, Hamburg, and Hong Kong kept their places as leading ports around the world. In this evaluation, the ranks of Shenzhen and Qingdao increased at a relatively fast pace.
The report selected Ningbo Zhoushan Port in east China’s Zhejiang in its case study to introduce its advanced experiences in areas such as multimodal transport, intelligent berths, green development, shipbuilding, fuel oil supply, and shipping insurance.
The report was released for the third year in a row, with aim to give references for the building of world-class ports. (Edited by Jiang Yujuan, jiangyj@xinhua.org)
