BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Bond issues on China's bond market totaled 5.45616 trillion yuan in May, reported Xinhua Finance citing data released by the People's Bank of China (PBOC), the Chinese central bank recently.
By products, monthly issues of T-bonds, local government bonds, financial bonds, corporate bonds, credit asset-backed securities and interbank certificates of deposit (CDs) stood at 735.28 billion yuan, 755.35 billion yuan, 984.45 billion yuan, 796.27 billion yuan, 25.30 billion yuan and 2.12079 trillion yuan respectively.
By the end of May, outstanding bonds on China's bond market amounted up to 149.3 trillion yuan, including 129.4 trillion yuan on the interbank bond market and 19.9 trillion yuan on the exchange bond market.
By type of holders, overseas institutional investors possessed in total 3.25 trillion yuan of bond holdings on China's bond market, accounting for 2.2 percent of the comparable aggregate by the end of May.
Their bond holdings on China's interbank bond market were 3.19 trillion yuan, including 2.1 trillion yuan of T-bonds and 0.7 trillion yuan of policy bank bonds.
In May, cash bond turnover on China's interbank bond market reached 26.2 trillion yuan, up 25.9 percent year on year and 2.0 percent over April and the daily average was 1.24592 trillion yuan. (Edited by Duan Jing with Xinhua Silk Road, duanjing@xinhua.org)
