SAO JOSE DO RIO PRETO, Brazil, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Led by the General Consulate of China in Sao Paulo, representatives of Chinese enterprises and organizations in Brazil visited two cities in the northwest region of Sao Paulo state to meet and communicate with local officials and entrepreneurs, and to jointly explore new business opportunities.
Chinese Consul General in Sao Paulo Chen Peijie said at the dinner seminar of Brazil-China business opportunities and cooperation in Northwest Sao Paulo that Sao Paulo state has always been the gateway for Chinese companies to enter the Brazilian market, and the existing cooperation is solid and fruitful.
More Chinese companies are considering to expand their investment layout from the coastal region to inland area. The northwest region’s trade with China is growing steadily, and there’s still a great prospect for the development of advantageous industries such as agricultural and food processing industries.
Edson Coelho Araujo, mayor of Sao Jose do Rio Preto, said while welcoming the Chinese delegation that he expects to reinforce the cooperation between the northwest region of Sao Paulo state with China, and welcomes Chinese enterprises to make investment in the region and jointly deepen the bilateral trade and business collaboration.
Sao Jose do Rio Preto is a mid-sized city that locates some 440 kilometers away from Sao Paulo city with a population of around 470,000. It is a major health, education, leisure and shopping center in the region. Olimpia is a renowned city of tourism adjacent to Sao Jose do Rio Preto, with an annual flow of visitors of around 4 million. The city has abundant resources of water and theme parks with a wide range of entertainment.
Olimpia Mayor Fernando Cunha said that he expects to have extensive exchanges with China in trade, social and cultural aspects, and especially hope to invite Chinese companies to invest and join in the construction of its international airport project, in a bid to build Olimpia into a tourist center in Latin America.
Statistics show that in 2022, Sao Paulo state's economic growth was among the highest in the country, with stronger development momentum, greater market demand, consumption recovering, better business environment and higher investors' confidence.
Meanwhile, Brazilian businesses showed great enthusiasm to strengthen the cooperation with China.
Biotechnological firm P&F Products and Features Brazil provides cardiac patients with biomaterials and devices for minimally invasive surgeries, which are capable of reducing surgical pain, reducing the risks of infection and improving the quality of life.
P&F Products and Features Brazil said that they were honored to receive the Chinese delegation as a representative company from Sao Jose do Rio Preto. And the exchange and communication have helped them understanding the Chinese market better, hence to develop products and technologies with more focus on the Chinese patients.
Caroline Caneira, administrative manager of home decoration retailer Bela Flower, said that China is seeing Brazil with a new perspective, and the government is leading the business exchanges, which will provide Chinese exporters with more security and make them more willing to strengthen the business ties with Brazil.
