BEIJING, June 7 (Xinhua) - Local craftsmen from Yuncheng County of Heze City in east China's Shandong Province, have innovated by using Chinese peony petals and stamens as ingredients to create a peony banquet infused with the essence of this beautiful flower. This further promotes the "national beauty" of the peony in Yuncheng County.
According to the spokesperson of the craftsman's workshop, they have developed a total of 36 peony dishes, including chicken, lamb soup, and fish dishes made from peony flowers.
It is worth noting that the use of peony flowers in Chinese cuisine can be traced back to the Song Dynasty, and rich cooking methods were developed during the Qing Dynasty. The protein, amino acids, and various nutrients contained in peony make it an excellent health food.
