BEIJING, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The RCEP Trade and Investment Exchange Conference - China (Fangchenggang) ·Australia Session was held on Thursday in a combined online and offline manner in Fangchenggang, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as well as in Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne in Australia. The event aimed to seize the vast opportunities brought by the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and promote economic and trade exchanges between China and Australia.
During this event, Guangxi and Australia reached agreements on 11 projects worth a total of 10.3 billion yuan, involving resources, pharmaceuticals, food, and new energy vehicles.
According to Sui Guohua, vice chair of the regional government of Guangxi, China has been Australia's largest trading partner since 2009, while Guangxi's trade with Australia has remained stable. He emphasized that both sides are committed to strengthening industrial chain cooperation and promoting Australian companies to establish business in Guangxi.
As the only international gateway city in China connected to the ASEAN by sea, land and river, Fangchenggang City is committed to creating a first-class business environment and providing full support for enterprise development, and looking forward to deepening cooperation with Australia in areas such as advanced manufacturing, modernized fishing port industry, and international logistics.
Hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangxi Committee (CCPITGX), the People's Government of Fangchenggang City, and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, the conference attracted nearly 400 participants including representatives from the China-Australia Chamber of Commerce, Australian enterprises in China, relevant commercial associations and enterprises in Guangxi, as well as experts and scholars.
