BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- SF Airlines, the aviation branch of China's leading courier enterprise SF Express, announced that it launched an air cargo route linking Chengdu in southwest China's Sichuan Province with Mumbai, India on Monday.
This is the third air cargo route SF Airlines has launched in Chengdu to connect with India, after the Chengdu-Delhi route and Chengdu-Chennai route. The cargo airline said by launching the routes, it aims to expand its logistics channels to South Asia.
A round-trip cargo flight is scheduled for the new route every week, with up to over 100 tonnes of air express capacity for cross-border transportation of such goods as electronic products, automotive parts, textiles, and mechanical equipment.
The flight departing from Chengdu for Mumbai on Monday carried 48 tonnes of cargo, mainly including daily necessities and electronic products, according to an executive of SF Airlines. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
