BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd. (CREG) said that the shield tunneling machine it had produced for a high-speed railway project in the city of Sicily in Italy rolled off the production line on Tuesday.
It’s learned that the machine has a length of 135 meters and weighs more than 1,900 tons. The CREG adopted the philosophy of green manufacturing in making the machine. The machine was equipped with intelligent control, which allows it to adjust to the working environment and reach the best balance between excavation efficiency and energy consumption. It also applied energy-saving and intelligent manufacturing methods and advanced dust removal technology to reduce dusts and noises.
On the same day, a tunnel boring machine made for Huaibei Mining Group also rolled off the production line.
The completion of the two machines marks a breakthrough for the CREG in the research and development (R&D) in shield tunneling machinery, which is greener, smarter and higher-end, said Wang Kai, vice general manager of the company.
Up to now, the CREG has won more than 1500 orders of shield tunneling machines and tunnel boring machines. It has exported its products to 30 countries and regions including Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Australia and Singapore.
