BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Local veterant artisans in Junan County, east China's Shandong Province, have been using their handmade Fanhua crafts, which they learned to make since childhood, to promote the local intangible cultural heritage and further develop the intangible culture of Junan County.
Using specially crafted paper with excellent tensile strength and water absorption as the primary material, Fanhua crafts are created by employing various techniques such as sticking, chiseling, dyeing, and more. The goldfish-shaped work piece serves as a representative of these crafts, which produce over ten different flower patterns.
Local artisans have shown a steadfast commitment to innovating and preserving Fanhua crafts and "goldfish" intangible cultural products in recent years, keeping in mind the preferences of today's youth. They are also actively engaged in various non-material cultural exhibitions at the provincial, municipal, and county levels.
In addition, the production techniques of Fanhua crafts and "goldfish" have been recognized as cultural products of Shandong province for external promotion and Linyi city's intangible cultural heritage. They have also been showcased at the Non-material Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall in Yizhou Ancient City. (Edited by Jiang Feifan with Xinhua Silk Road, 346129473@qq.com)
