MILAN, April 20 (Class Editori) — Eni and Snam look to Slovakia. Both companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Slovak Gas Industry (SPP), the country's largest energy supplier for business cooperation in the gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) sectors.
The signing of the two agreements took place on the sidelines of President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella's visit to the country.
Eni wants to guarantee supply
Under the agreement, Eni and SPP will evaluate initiatives concerning trading and re-gasification and transportation capacity management. The goal is to secure and strengthen the strategic supply of natural gas for use in the Slovak Republic.
The signing highlights potential areas of cooperation and collaboration among European energy players to improve the continent's access to secure, reliable, and sustainable energy sources.
The details of the agreement between Snam and SPP
The aim of the agreement signed between Snam and SPP is to secure energy supplies and study potential cooperation on security of supply, focusing on access to gas transportation capacity from Italy to Slovakia through the Tarvisio exit point.
As explained in a not, Snam has extensive and well-established experience and know-how in the construction, operation, and management of gas infrastructure and operates to facilitate the energy transition.
Oil drops
Oil trades lower (WTI down 1.96% and Brent down 1.7%) due to lingering concerns about the outlook for energy demand. According to ANZ analysts, the Fed's Beige Book, which showed how the US economy has stalled in recent weeks due to slowing hiring and tightening credit, amplified recent fears that monetary tightening has weakened oil demand.
The strengthening dollar has weighed as well on investor appetite, and the market is likely to "remain focused on the demand outlook," experts concluded.
