For the first time in the norther German state of Lower Saxony, a pilot project aims to teach vocational school teachers and trainers how to learn with virtual reality. The education center, called the Virtual Reality Education Center (VRECH), on the campus of the Multi-Media Vocational Schools on the former Expo site in Hanover, is "a cornerstone for important facets of the digital future in training and working life," said Lower Saxony's Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs Julia Willie Hamburg. It has great potential to "send out digital impetuses" as a beacon even beyond the region's borders, the politician emphasized.
Knowledge of the promising technology is important, the region announced. The new education center is now the first point of contact for exploring the "fusion of virtual and real worlds and putting it into practice. "Hanover’s Region President Steffen Krach emphasized that "in terms of the intensification of training, it is actually the first such center in the whole of Germany."
Ulf-Birger Franz, the head of the region’s department of economics, announced that the cooperation between vocational schools and companies would be expanded through further training and cooperation.
