BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) -- A container ship loaded with 130 tonnes of cargo departed from Zhoukou Port in central China's Henan Province on Monday, headed for Port of Miami in the United States, China News Service (CNS) reported.
It marked the launch of a new shipping route between Zhoukou City and Miami.
This batch of containers, carrying 130 tonnes of cargo including dehydrated vegetables and condiments produced locally in Zhoukou, is scheduled to arrive in Shanghai in ten days and will then be transported to Miami.
Theses goods departing from the Zhoukou port will arrive at the port of Miami in 45 days, cutting the transportation time about seven days compared to the previous trip through other routes, and saving 1,500 to 2,000 yuan of freight per container.
At present, Zhoukou operates six domestic container shipping routes, five cross-border container shipping routes. In the future, more international shipping routes will be launched to link the city and America, Southeast Asia and Africa.
