BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Railway passenger trips made in China's Yangtze River Delta region, one of the country's economic hubs, amounted to 18.724 million from March 1 to March 10, up 6.6 percent from 1.158 million in the same period of 2019, according to China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd.
The region is poised to handle some 6.4 million railway passenger trips from March 10 to 12, as passengers' willingness to go for spring outings by train increased significantly.
It is expected that the region will further see an increase in passenger flows, with Tomb-sweeping Day holiday approaching.
As the Yangtze River Delta has witnessed the rapid development of high-speed rail network, more cities, such as Yangzhou, Yancheng, Xuzhou, etc., are expected become new travel destinations for tourists to enjoy the springtime. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
