BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) -- 75 percent of foreigners living in Chinese mainland are willing to stay there in the next year, showing that the Chinese mainland remains a strong attraction for foreigners, according to a new global survey released by HSBC recently, reported Chinanews.com.
The HSBC's survey, conducted from May 2022 to January 2023, covered more than 7,000 respondents from nine countries and regions, including Australia, the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, India, Singapore and the United States, aiming to understand and analyze the changing trend of cross-border financial needs of expatriates, the motivation of living abroad, and the problems and challenges encountered in integrating into the new environment since the COVID-19 broke out.
The survey found that 61 percent of global respondents plan to stay where they lived then while according to the survey in Chinese mainland, the proportion of foreigners who plan to stay there in the coming year accounts for 75 percent, which is the highest among the nine surveyed regions.
The normalization of cross-border travels in China has facilitated international business activities and the flow of people at home and abroad. With more frequent connections and exchanges with the world, the demand for cross-border financial services and international investment and financing in China will be further stimulated, said Zhang Yun, general manager of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC China.
