BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) -- The volume of goods imported via China-Laos Railway since the start of this year reached 510,000 tonnes, up 5 times year on year, according to data from China Railway Kunming Group.
A variety of goods, such as various fruits and Lao beer, were imported via the railway service, said Wang Junfeng, assistant master of Mohan Station under China Railway Kunming Group.
Total import and export cargo transported via China-Laos Railway was 600,000-odd tonnes since the beginning of 2023.
As of February 22, 15.6 million tonnes of freight had been delivered via China-Laos Railway, with the transport volume of cross-border cargo standing at 2.98 million tonnes.
Currently, 12 trains run regularly each day on China-Laos Railway, up from 2 trains when the service kicked off operation in December 2021, said Wang. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
