BEIJING, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- As of Wednesday, the Horgos Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has handled 1,021 China-Europe freight train trips since the beginning of 2023, an increase of 2.1 percent year on year to hit a record high.

The border port has been continuously optimizing the operation of China-Europe freight train service since the beginning of this year, realizing steady growth in both the number and the volume of freight trains through improving the efficiency of reloading and organizing.

"We are able to keep the daily average number of trains handled through the port at no less than 19," said Cui Peng, a representative with the Horgos station. By improving the operation plan of freight trains, promoting orderly coordination among all links at the station, strengthening the communication with relevant departments, stepping up the supply of goods and optimizing multimodal transport services, the port has played the role as a bridge bonding various stakeholders of the China-Europe freight train service, according to Cui.

So far, the Horgos Port has handled over 26,000 China Europe freight train trips. With 76 routes passing through the port and reaching 45 cities and regions of 18 countries, it has grown into an important channel for international logistics transportation.
