BEIJING, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- All 14 units of Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC)-constructed Minas de Huascachaca wind power project in Ecuador were connected to the grid recently, 20 days ahead of the contracted schedule, laying a solid foundation for overall transfer of the project, according to the company.

Located in the Andes, Minas de Huascachaca wind power project has a total installed capacity of 50 MW, it is the largest wind power project in Ecuador in terms of single and total installed capacity, and is also the first wind power project settled by DEC in South America.

The project deal includes the design, supply, transportation, installation, commissioning, trial operation and maintenance of 14 sets of wind turbines, box transformers and other complete sets of equipment.

The grid-connection of all units of the project will not only promote the diversification of Ecuador's national grid, but also help the country gradually reduce its dependence on traditional energy sources.
