BEIJING, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) – A freight train loaded with 1,500 tonnes of flaxseed from Russia arrived at Yinchuan, capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, on Sunday, marking the official opening of intermodal import transport channel linking Ningxia with the world, reported Chinanews.com on Monday.
Up the opening of the new channel, imported goods will be shipped from Vladivostoc in Russia to north China's Tianjin Port by sea, and transported by direct freight train to the freight yard in Yinchuan Railway station for delivery to Yinchuan Comprehensive Bonded Zone, which will effectively reduce the transport risk of imported goods and international logistics costs for enterprises.
As the core region of flaxseed processing and flaxseed oil consumption in China, Ningxia has a huge demand for flaxseeds, while the smooth import freight channel is of great significance to promote the construction of import flaxseed distribution center and processing center in Ningxia.
The Department of Commerce of Ningxia has been making efforts to smooth the import logistics channel for local enterprise. The launch of the rail-sea intermodal transport has directly saved the import enterprises up to 1000 yuan of logistics and transportation cost per container on average.
In addition, Ningxia's commerce department vowed to continue to deepen cooperation with Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Tianjin, and Qingdao in Shandong Province, where China's major border ports are located, to provide a solid guarantee for the stability of international freight train transportation and industrial supply chains in Ningxia.
