BEIJING, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) – The project of Infrastructure of Zero Carbon Intelligent Industrial Park in Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers, east China's Shandong Province won Global Human Settlements Award on Planning and Design at the 17th Annual Session of Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS 2022) held in a virtual format in December of 2022, marking that the Start-up Area has received global recognition and wide attention in sustainable development.
As an international non-profit organization with special advisory status of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the annual award ceremony of GFHS aims to share and promote outstanding examples of contributions to sustainable cities and human habitation around the world.
In April of 2021, China's State Council approved a plan to build a start-up area to replace old growth drivers with new ones in Jinan. The area also serves as a demonstration zone in promoting ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin.
Covering a total area of 72,000 square meters and involving a total investment of 1.28 billion yuan, the zero-carbon smart innovation project includes exhibition hall, operation center, civic service hall and other supporting facilities.
An Fengmei, deputy general manager of Jinan Start-up Investment Group Co., LTD., said that the project is committed to creating a green ecological bionic perception building, striving to achieve zero energy consumption and zero carbon in the operation stage.
Specifically, the construction of the project is equipped with a variety of renewable and environmental-friendly energy technologies designed to minimize the building's energy consumption and carbon emissions. For example, the 5,200 square meter solar power system installed on the roof is capable of generating about 550,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually.
At present, 141 high-end and high-quality projects involving a total investment of more than 330 billion yuan have been signed in the Start-up Area, attracting a number of strategic emerging industry projects such as new generation information technology, new energy and new materials to settle in.
