MILAN, Dec 15 (Class Editori) — Twenty Italian and four Chinese companies, three sports champions and one fashion champion: these are the 28 winners of the China Awards’ 17th edition, organized by Italy China Council Foundation and Class Editori and started in 2005. The awards are given to companies and people that have best seized the opportunities offered by the interchange between Italy and China.
The traditional setting of the Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci in Milan hosted the awards presentation and was followed by a charity dinner to fund scholarships to Polytechnic students involved in activities that can be a bridge between the two countries.
The evening was attended by about 300 representatives of the Italian business and industrial world. The event was presided by Mario Boselli, President of Italy China Council Foundation, and Paolo Panerai, Vice Chairman and CEO of Class Editori, who welcomed institutional guests, experts, members, and professionals who attended the dinner.
“The China Awards that Class Editori has been organizing for years, with what was then the Italy China Foundation and is now the Italy China Council Foundation, represent a unicum in relations between Italy and China. Rewarding both Italian and Chinese companies, small and large, for their cross-economic activity means fostering development between the two countries and thus between their respective populations. We are confident that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s acceptance of President Xi Jinping’s invitation to China confirms that there will be a new momentum for Italy-China relations,” Paolo Panerai stated.
The event was supported by Genertec Italia, Intesa Sanpaolo, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Cattolica Assicurazioni, Gruppo Bracco, Giada SpA, Curiel SpA, Savino Del Bene, P&D Consulting, EU SME Centre, Otto Otto Baijiu, Rhea Vendors Group SpA, Il Botolo Azienda Agricola and Musicopoli.
“This is the first edition to be held under the brand of the Italy China Council Foundation, which last June brought together the Italy China Foundation and the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce in one soul, creating one of the most important associations of its kind at the European level. For us, the differences in the size and types of activities of the winners are further testimony to the validity of this award, which for 17 years has given visibility to all those stories of success working 365 days a year to tighten economic and trade relations between our two countries. With their work and entrepreneurship, they honor both China and Italy, which despite their distant origins share many, excellent values: industriousness, resourcefulness, and creativity,” ICCF President Mario Boselli added at the opening of the 17th edition of the China Awards.
Six award categories featured Italian and Chinese companies, both SMEs and multinationals: Capital Elite (Chinesebox Under 40 Award; Distilleria Artigianale Milano Under 40 Award; D'Andrea & Partners Social Responsibility Award; EssilorLuxottica Social Responsibility Award; Ferretti Group Hong Kong SAR Special Award), Creators of Value (MCM Machining Centers Manufacturing; Metech STG; Motion; Nadella Group), Eccellenza Italia (Cantine Polvanera; GCDS; Illycaffè; Pininfarina), Top Investors in China (Comau; Senfter Holding; Tecniplast), Top Investors in Italy (China Power; Cmc Europe Italy; Haier Europe; Sanpellegrino; Sinica Management) and Silk Road (EY Tax & Law; LU-VE Group; Salmoiraghi Automatic Handling).
The last category of awardees was the Golden Lion, the recognition given to personalities from the world of culture, sports and entertainment who have distinguished themselves for their role as bridges between Italy and China. The Golden Lions went to Fabio Cannavaro, a multiple football champion and coach with a long experience in China, and fashion designer Angelo Cruciani with his Yezael brand. Participating by video, because they are engaged in competitions abroad, were Formula 1 driver from the Alfa Romeo stable Zhou Guanyu and volleyball player Zhu Ting, on the Savino del Bene Volleyball team.
