BEIJING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Apart from popular products like home appliances and food, the FIFA World Cup in Qatar has also fueled the sales of some less popular categories of goods, including batteries, in China, reported Economic Information Daily Wednesday.
Batteries are indispensable consumables in daily life as it can power TV remote controls, wireless mice and digital products, among others. The convenience of removable batteries is still somewhat irreplaceable although more and more electronic devices can be recharged.
Data from Chinese internet giant Meituan showed that the sales volume of disposable batteries on the platform reached a growth peak during the Qatar World Cup, with famous brands such as NanFu and Panasonic selling well.
Meituan data also showed that since the start of the Qatar World Cup, the takeout sales of NanFu batteries on the platform have increased by 72 percent year on year, with over 30 percent of the orders are placed after 19:00. Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Shenzhen and Hangzhou see the highest sales volume.
Instant retail featuring online ordering and fast delivery has made buying batteries easier and faster. Takeout batteries just meet the urgent consumption demand of consumers, analyzed insiders.
