BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- The first digital free trade zone jointly built by China's Alibaba eWTP (Electronic World Trade Platform) and Thailand officially began trial operation on Thursday, Chinanews.com reported.
eWTP is a multi-party electronic trade platform initiated by China's e-commerce giant Alibaba Group in 2016.
Located in the Eastern Economic Corridor of Thailand, the free trade zone is also the first free trade zone established by digital means in Thailand. After its operation, it will be easier, faster and more compliant for China's SMEs to export goods to Thailand and the time limit for the implementation of cross-border e-commerce from China to Thailand will be reduced from 10 days to 3 days.
The establishment of Thailand's first digital free trade zone provides good practical experience for the future development of Thailand's local cross-border e-commerce, said Song Juntao, general secretary of Alibaba eWTP.
