BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has led to a spending boom in TVs and related products in China with eye-catching competitions, reported Shanghai Securities News Wednesday.

According to data from Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com, during the World Cup, orders for large-screen TVs of 75 inches or above increased more than twice over the same period of last year, while orders for game TVs offering better experiences in watching football games increased more than four times over the same period of last year.

Data from Chinese internet giant Meituan showed that in the week before the Qatar World Cup, the take-out sales of TV racks jumped 620 percent from the same period of last year, while that of TV remotes hiked by 775.34 percent.

Data from big data service provider All View Cloud showed that in the first week of the Qatar World Cup, the sales of online color TV market increased by 19.4 percent week on week, and that of offline color TV market increased by 64.0 percent week on week.

In the view of industry insiders, different from the last World Cup, CCTV has sent out a super broadcast lineup for the Qatar World Cup, and CCTV-16 launches the broadcast of 4K ultra-high definition of the World Cup for the first time. The increase in broadcast of ultra-high definition has greatly stimulated users' demand for TVs with higher definition and larger screens, which sparks a spending boom in high-end large-screen TVs.
