BEIJING, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Financed by the Export-Import Bank of China and constructed by PowerChina International Group Limited, the completion ceremony of the Gouina hydroelectric plant in Mali was held recently.
The Gouina hydroelectric power station is located on the Senegal River in Mali. The project was officially launched in November 2016.
In April this year, all three units of the hydroelectric plant entered commercial operation. The project will have an annual capacity of 621 million kilowatt-hours of electricity after put into operation.
Chinese Ambassador to Mali Chen Zhihong said that the Gouina hydroelectricplant adds a new example to China-Africa infrastructure cooperation and reflects the positive results of China-Africa joint construction of Belt and Road.
Goverment officials from Mali, Senegal and Mauritania also attended the ceremony to mark the completion of the project.
