BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has recently announced the list of 45 national-level advanced manufacturing clusters, of which the leading industries had generated an output value of nearly 19 trillion yuan (about 2.69 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2021, according to the ministry on Wednesday.
18 national manufacturing innovation centers have been set up among the clusters last year, accounting for 70 percent of the total number of national-level innovation centers. With over 1,700 national-level technological innovation carriers, over 170 single champion enterprises and more than 2,200 "little giant" companies, the clusters have played an important role in promoting high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.
Among the 45 clusters, 13 are in the field of new-generation information technology, 13 in high-end equipment, seven in new materials, five in biomedicine and high-end medical devices, four in consumer goods, and three in new energy and intelligent connected vehicles.
Geographically, 30 of the national-level clusters are in the east of China, eight in the central, five in the west and two in the northeast, covering a total of 19 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and three cities with independent planning.
The MIIT is committed to further accelerating the cultivation of various levels of industrial clusters through innovation, improving coordinated working mechanisms among central and regional departments and optimizing the policy support systems, as a bid to promote better development of industrial clusters.
