LILONGWE, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tech giant Huawei launched Monday the 2022 Seed for the Future Program in Malawi's capital Lilongwe which will see 100 Malawian youths from universities and colleges trained in information and communication technology (ICT).
Long Zhou, Chinese Ambassador to Malawi, said at the event that the project epitomizes the long-term efforts of Chinese enterprises in Malawi to actively fulfill their social responsibilities, adding that China will strengthen practical cooperation with Malawi in various fields.
Malawian Minister of Information and Digitalization Gospel Kazako hailed Huawei for its constant support in the ICT sector through sponsorship of various ICT activities. He described Huawei as a "true friend in the journey of building the digital capabilities of the country".
Huawei Managing Director in Malawi, Gu Mu, said the company is excited to be part of the implementing partners of the country's digital transformation.
Seeds for the Future is Huawei's global flagship training program conducted across many countries and aims to develop skilled local ICT talents.
