QINGDAO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Statistics from Jiaozhou Customs showed that in the first 10 months of 2022, Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) Demonstration Zone in Qingdao, east China's Shandong has handled a total of 620 China-Europe freight trains, a year-on-year increase of 36.3 percent.
Up to now, SCO Demonstration Zone has regularly operated more than 10 international cargo train routes, which can reach more than 50 cities in 22 countries and regions along Belt and Road routes as well as SCO member states.
Specifically, in the first 10 months this year, the outbound China-Europe freight trains from SCO Demonstration Zone reached 366, accounting for 59 percent of total, while the main export commodities were mechanical and electrical products, chemicals and daily necessities and other manufactured products.
Compared with shipping transportation, it takes about 10 days from the SCO Demonstration Zone to Central Asian countries, and traveling about 17 days to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, and 20 days to Mannheim of Germany, greatly reducing time cost, said Xu Yuejing, relevant person in charge of Jiaozhou Customs.
Besides, it is learned that Jiaozhou Customs has launched a series of measures to shorten customs clearance time. At present, the SCO Demonstration Zone has realized the normal operation of one cross-border e-commerce China-Europe special freight train per month.
