BEIJING, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) – Tianji Musical Instrument Production Co., Ltd., a local musical instrument producer in Lanling, a county-level city in east China’s Shandong Province, has injected new vitality into traditional Chinese musical instrument ocarina by innovating and optimizing the production process, making the instrument capable of playing more tones.
As an ancient musical instrument, the ocarina can be traced back to many different Chinese traditional cultures. Ocarina is a wind musical instrument typically having an enclosed oval body with finger holes and a projecting mouthpiece.
Traditionally made of clay or ceramic, the making process of the ocarina involves complex processes such as modeling, remolding, trimming and painting in order to produce a standardized shape and structure.
At present, the company has produced more than 100 series and more than 40 kinds of ocarina, creating nearly 30 local jobs.
