BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- An international standard for power grid multi-rotor unmanned aircraft system (UAS) maintenance (IEEE P1936.4) led by State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd. has recently gotten approval from the world's largest technical professional organization Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
It takes five years of scientific research for the research team of the company to set the standard, which marks the company's first of its kind in the field of power gird UAS.
The standard will clarify the technical requirements, usage and methods of maintenance for power grid inspection multi-rotor UAS, and standardize the operation and management of UAS maintenance in a bid to guarantee the safety and operation of UAS.

It is noted that UAS is widely used in the power grid inspection. In complicated and changeable weather conditions, UAS hardware will be influenced and require periodic maintenance in order to preserve its safety and reliability during the inspection.
In recent years, the company has stepped up efforts in setting international standard as well as upgrading technology and personal training.
Up to now, the company has successfully led the establishment of one International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard and three IEEE standards, and participated in the preparation and revision of three IEC standards and three IEEE standards.
