BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) announced Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with Primergy Solar LLC, a U.S.- based distributed photovoltaic and energy storage operator, to exclusively supply batteries for its Gemini project, reported Xinhua-run China Securities Journal.
It is learned the Gemini project is located near Las Vegas, in the state of Nevada, involving a total investment of 1.2 billion U.S. dollars. Once completed, Gemini will be one of the largest operational solar storage projects in the U.S., with a 690 MWac/966 MWdc solar array and 1,416 MWh storage capability.
Earlier this year, Primergy completed a comprehensive and detailed procurement process and selected several leading global equipment suppliers and construction partners for the project.
CATL will supply Primergy with EnerOne, a modular outdoor liquid cooling battery energy storage system which features long service life, high integration, and safety. With a cycle life of up to 10,000 cycles, the product will contribute to the safe and stable operation of the project.
