BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker BYD launched Atto 3 electric SUV, a passenger car model, in India on Tuesday, marking its entry into the Indian passenger car market, reported the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News.
Atto 3 is also the first electric SUV model released in India.
In 2023, BYD plans to sell 15,000 units of Atto 3 in India and establish a local new production base, according to Zhang Jie, general manager with BYD India.
Since its foundation in 2007, BYD India has set up two factories in India, with a cumulative investment of over 200 million U.S. dollars in the country. BYD's businesses in India cover areas of solar panels, battery energy storage, as well as electric buses, trucks and forklifts. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
