BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S. carmaker Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory has delivered a monthly record high of 83,000 vehicles in China in September, Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), said recently.
Established in 2019, Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai is the carmaker's first Gigafactory outside the United States, with an industrial chain localization rate of more than 95 percent and 99.99 percent of the employees being Chinese.
In September, wholesale sales of China’s new energy passenger cars amounted to about 660,000 units, up 95 percent year on year, according to Cui.
It is estimated that retail sales of the country’s new energy passenger cars will reach about 590,000 units in last month.
Cui pointed out that strengthening policy incentives, increasing demand, rising oil prices, and the improvement of the new energy vehicles supply have created the market boom recently. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
