BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- China's new energy vehicle (NEV) industry saw rapid development over the past decade, with the compound annual growth rate reaching 86 percent , the Shanghai Securities News reported on Saturday.
In 2012, the country's NEV production and sales stood at 13,000 units and then, the market expanded at the compound annual growth rate of 86 percent over the following ten years, said Lu Weisheng, an official of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner.
Production and sales of NEVs in China are gaining steam in the fast lane of expansion. At present, China's NEV ownership has exceeded 10 million units.
Besides, China made efforts to speed up the construction of NEV charging facilities. About 4 million charging piles for NEVs have been built so far.
In the future, China will further optimize industrial layout and improve the environment for the NEV development, according to Lu. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
