BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Consumer goods giant Unilever unveiled its first full line production and marketing base in China, with construction of the project kicking off on Monday in Conghua district of Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, reported Chinanews.com.

With a total investment of 1.6 billion yuan, it is also Unilever's largest investment project in China in recent years, said Zeng Xiwen, president of public affairs of Unilever China.

Upon completion, the production and marketing base will produce Unilever's personal care products, food, ice cream and other goods. The annual output value of the base is estimated to reach about 10 billion yuan after factories of personal care products, food and ice cream go into production as scheduled in 2023, 2024 and 2025, respectively.

It's learned that the base will adopt intelligent digital production methods and build an end-to-end (E2E) smart supply chain covering production, storage and delivery.

Also, Unilever plans to craft this base into a supply chain base serving other members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the whole world. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
