BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The auto sales around the globe may encounter a decrease of 3.2 percent this year, but the auto sales in the Chinese market are expected to increase by 5 percent, reported Jiemian News Tuesday quoting an industry expert.
While the U.S. auto market experienced an 18-percent decline and the European auto market a 14-percent decline in sales in the first half of 2022, China saw a 4-percent increase in new car sales in this period, which is enough to prove that China will once again be the driving force in the global auto market, said Ferdinand Dudenhöffer from CAR, an automotive research center based in Duisburg, Germany.
Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) showed that China's auto sales in July rose 29.7 percent year on year to 2.42 million units, and the sales of new energy vehicles reached 593,000 units, up 120 percent year on year, with a market share of 24.5 percent.
CAAM expects the auto market to maintain steady growth in August, with passenger car production and sales, as well as new energy vehicles and auto exports also maintaining good performance.
