BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- China had built 1.97 million 5G base stations by the end of July, as the country's efforts to push forward 5G network construction.
The country had realized 5G network coverage of all prefecture-level cities, counties and 96 percent of towns, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said recently.
The number of 5G mobile users in China had reached 475 million by the end of July, surging 120 million from the end of 2021, according to the MIIT
The ministry will continue efforts to promote the construction of new information infrastructure such as 5G networks and gigabit optical networks and accelerate the in-depth integration of "dual gigabit" networks with various fields. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
