HANGZHOU, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- A forum under the China Green Low Carbon Conference was held on Monday in Anji County in Huzhou City, east China's Zhejiang Province, highlighting the role of green finance in bamboo carbon sink development.
Renowned scholars and experts from the industry, financial institutions were invited to share their insights in the realization of the commercial value of ecological products at the forum.
An official with the local financial development center said that green finance is key to the "green bank" of bamboo forest. The forum has given Anji an access to intelligence and finance support, which will fuel the reform in bamboo carbon sink development.
During the forum, a slew of cooperation agreements were reached among industrial players. A new intelligence application on bamboo carbon sink was launched, allowing people to manage bamboo resources, carbon sink trading, profit allocation in a digital way.
Besides, the event also saw 1.12 million yuan (about 16,4900 U.S. dollars) of carbon transactions with a total volume of 15,000 tonnes.
Boasting lush bamboo forests of 1.01 million mu (about 6,7300 hectares), Anji is poised to turn the "green bank" into a source of rural income. The county established China's first county-level bamboo forestry carbon sink trading platform in December 2021, which integrates six application scenarios, such as carbon storage, carbon trading and carbon footprints.
