BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) announced on Monday that it would support construction of ten artificial intelligence (AI) demonstration application scenarios to promote use of AI and foster new economic growth engine.
The ten scenarios supported include smart farm, intelligent port, intelligent mine, smart factory, smart home, smart education, automatic driving, intelligent diagnosis and treatment, smart court and intelligent supply chain.
By offering the support, the MOST aims to craft a batch of replicable benchmark application scenarios suitable to be promoted and ultimately build an AI application ecology covering full industrial chain and whole process.
On August 12, the MOST also issued a guideline on accelerating AI application scenario innovation and promoting high-quality economic development with high-level AI application together with other authorities such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Transport.
The guideline stipulates to encourage development of AI application scenarios in key fields such as manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, finance, commerce and home furnishings.
It also calls for continuing applying AI in different social contexts such as urban management, traffic management, ecological and environment protection, healthcare, education and elder care. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
