BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) – A China-Europe freight train loaded with shiitake, dried agaric and mechanical parts left Xinxiang in central China’s Henan Province on August 6, heading for Vietnam’s capital Hanoi, reported Chinanews.com on Sunday.
Carrying 407.5 tonnes of cargo with a total value of 5.188 million U.S. dollars, the freight train will arrive in Hanoi in 5-7 days after passing through Pingxiang, a border city in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
It is noted that as the first freight train route connecting ASEAN countries with Xinxiang city, the operation of the freight route is expected to help local as well as northern Henan enterprises enter into the Southeast Asian market and further integrate into the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
From January to July this year, the China-Europe freight trains launched from Henan Province had made a total of 964 trips, a year-on-year increase of 13.5 percent. (Edited by Jiang Feifan with Xinhua Silk Road, 346129473@qq.com)
