BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Shaomai, a reputed local snack of Hohhot in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was selected into the 2022 China landmark breakfast list released by China Hospitality Association recently, reported local newspaper northnews.cn.
Shaomai, different from those in other Chinese regions that contain pork mince, consists traditionally of minced mutton and scallion and based upon the dedication of generations of chefs, the inherited culinary techniques give it more and more characteristics of being a landmark delicacy in Hohhot.

In the city whose name means "green city", there are over 2,600 Shaomai restaurants, which help give birth to the saying of "No Shaomai, no Hohhot".
Selected as the representative landmark food company in the region, Inner Mongolia Laosuiyuan Catering Management Co., Ltd. has been devoting itself into crafting the local delicacy into a landmark food for Hohhot for years.
By inheriting past techniques and innovation, the company helped Hohhot build an eye-catching "city name card" and fill in the blank in landmark food in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
As one of treasures of the Chinese food culture, Shaomai contributes much to improvement of the cultural competitiveness of Hohhot by being a carrier to record regional history and tradition, food custom and folk art.
The local industrial chain centered upon the landmark delicacy also facilitates regional economic development and rural revitalization. (Edited by Duan Jing with Xinhua Silk Road, duanjing@xinhua.org)
