BEIJING, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Loaded with automobiles and auto parts, a China-Europe freight train departed recently from Hefei, the capital of east China's Anhui Province, heading for Vorotynsk in Russia.
The freight train carried 100 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers, with a cargo value of 15 million yuan.
In the first six months of this year, Hefei handled 449 China-Europe freight trains, surging 76.8 percent year on year. The trains carried 36,772 TEU containers, with transported goods worth 9.6 billion yuan.
By now, Hefei's freight train service has reached 81 destinations in 17 countries worldwide since it started the cargo train service in 2014.(Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
