BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) -- A new intelligent electricity substation built by the State Grid Hunan Electric Power Company, a subsidiary of China's state-owned grid operator, in central China's Hunan Province passed an equipment inspection on Monday and started formal operation.
As the first 500-KV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) substation of the State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., the substation plays a vital role in Hunan's west-to-east power transmission program and will greatly improve the power supply in the central area of Hunan.
The substation's construction began in late 2020 and experienced difficult periods such as continuous rainy seasons during 2021 and 2022.
It is learned that the State Grid Hunan Electric Power made continuous efforts to advance green buildings and mechanized construction, and meanwhile established a technical research team to develop new GIS dust-proof system in a bid to achieve GIS all-weather high-quality installation operation.
