BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Britain will take the 6th World Intelligence Congress (WIC) as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with China in the digital economy, reported Economic Information Daily Wednesday quoting British representatives who will participate in the congress.
As the guest country of honor for the congress which will be held online from June 24 to 25 in Tianjin, an industrial hub in north China, Britain will send a delegation composed of 17 enterprises and three institutions to participate in the event.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between China and Britain, and the two sides will explore in-depth exchanges and cooperation in intelligent technology, intelligent manufacturing and many other fields by taking this opportunity, said the Secretariat of the WIC Organizing Committee.
During the congress, the British delegation will participate in multiple parallel forums, and various online and offline matchmaking activities as well as park visits, according to the Organizing Committee.
British trade commissioner for China John Edwards, with his Chinese name as Wu Qiaowen, said that the British delegation will actively participate in the online event and share Britain's innovative schemes in digital transformation covering science and technology, manufacturing, education, medical treatment, agriculture, energy, chemicals and maritime affairs, etc.
John Edwards also noted that China and Britain have share many common views on the importance of the digital economy, and have carried out in-depth cooperation on digital transformation in multiple fields in recent years.
It is expected that under the global trend of digital transformation and green transformation, broad cooperation opportunities will be created driven by the complementary advantages between Chinese and British technology enterprises, he added.
He also pointed out that 41 percent of Britain's total services exports to China and 30 percent of its services imports from China are data-enabled.
