BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- China-Laos Railway "One Railway, Two Parks" International Economic and Trade Cooperation Platform project was inked on Monday in Changsha, central China's Hunan Province. The platform will serve as a bridge for Lao agricultural products to enter the Chinese market, reported chinanews.com.
Availing of opportunities brought by the China-Laos Economic Corridor and the entry into traffic of China-Laos Railway, the project will connect the modern agriculture industrial park in Vientiane and Changsha Jinxia Economic Development Zone for China-Laos economic and trade cooperation and even cooperation with ASEAN members.
According to the project agreement, the agricultural products imported from Laos through the platform this year will mainly include rice, banana, and corn. The annual agricultural product imports through the platform are projected to increase from 100,000 tonnes to one million tonnes from 2022 to 2025, with a cumulative import value of about two billion U.S. dollars.
The project is Changsha's representative project launched under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement, and also a benchmark project promoting collaboration between Hunan and the ministry of agriculture and forestry of Laos.
