BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Meituan Shangou, the quick-commerce (q-commerce) arm of Chinese online food delivery platform Meituan (03690.HK), on Wednesday announced its partnership with Japanese retail giant Muji.
This is the first time Muji has joined hands with q-commerce platform.
From May 30 to now, more than 90 percent of the 240 Muji stores in China have launched online business on Meituan Shangou, selling over 4,000 types of commodities including daily necessities, kitchenware, clothing, shoes, bags, cosmetics, skin care products and office supplies.
The partnership enables consumers to receive Muji products within 30 minutes at shortest after they place orders on Meituan Shangou.
The cooperation also breaks the time and space restrictions on the operation of physical stores, driving sales of Muji's single store by as much as nearly 25 percent, according to an executive with Meituan Shangou. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, sudan@xinhua.org)
