BEIJING, June 9 (Xinhua) -- China's major excavator manufacturers reported a sharp rise in exports in May, industry data showed on Wednesday.
Last month, exports of China's 26 major excavator makers increased 63.9 percent year on year to 8,445 units, data from the China Construction Machinery Association showed.
Domestic sales of the equipment amounted to 12,179 units in May, down 44.8 percent year on year, the data showed.
In the first five months of this year, excavator exports surged 75.7 percent year on year to 42,236 units, while domestic sales of excavators slid 54.7 percent from a year ago to 80,097 units. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
